About IPRA and IFR

The International Professional Rodeo Association (IPRA) is a prominent organization in the world of professional rodeo, with a history dating back to its founding in 1957 as the Interstate Rodeo Association (IRA). Initially established to address concerns related to the credibility of rodeo events, particularly in the Eastern United States, the organization evolved and expanded its scope over the years.

One of the significant events organized by the IPRA is the International Finals Rodeo (IFR), which commenced in 1971. The IFR serves as the culmination of the rodeo season, where world champions are crowned across different rodeo events.

With nearly 300 sanctioned rodeos, a membership base exceeding 2,400 members, and a presence in both the United States and Canada, the International Professional Rodeo Association remains a leading force in promoting and organizing professional rodeo competitions.
