November 26, 2025—The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women’s Professional Rodeo Association announced Wednesday, Nov. 26, the 2025 National Finals Breakaway Roping will take place Dec. 22-23, at the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.

The NFBR was originally scheduled to take place Dec. 2-3, at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas. The venue and date change comes after the PRCA and WPRA received notice from the South Point that out of an abundance of caution and the Nov. 21 stringent biosecurity guidelines, the events would not take place Dec. 2-3 at the South Point Arena.

This decision was not made lightly given the unfortunate hand the event was dealt.

The event will showcase the top 15 breakaway ropers competing over 10 rounds — 5 rounds each day — with all competitors running in every round.

It marks the first time the NFBR will take place in Texas since the inaugural event at Globe Life Field in Arlington in 2020. Tickets for the event will go on sale to the public on Wednesday, Dec. 3. More information on ticket pricing, starting time and where to buy will be released once details are confirmed.

The PRCA, WPRA and Cowtown Coliseum are continuing to monitor the EHV/EHM outbreak and are taking measures designed to protect the wellbeing of all participating horses, while upholding the highest standards of biosecurity and animal care to be able to safely host the event. Per Cowtown Coliseum if the EHV/EHM outbreak is not contained according to state and local animal welfare, then the event will not be held. The 2025 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is still slated to run Dec. 4-13 in Las Vegas with updated equine health guidelines which can be found here.
