Hali Williams will pass Cheyanne McCartney for No. 1 in BRJ’s unofficial world standings on Sunday, whatever she does in the Governor’s Cup semifinals. She’s $4,466 back, and the smallest check in the semifinals is $4,500. That leaves her $34 ahead, and any check in the finals puts her ahead by at least $4,534 with three days left in the regular season.
The Governor’s Cup semifinals starts from scratch Sunday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and all eight cowgirls in it get paid. The four who don’t advance take home $4,500 each. The four who do rope in the finals, which pays $34,000 for first, $26,000 for second, $17,000 for third and $9,000 for fourth.
That $4,500 floor has already settled one spot. Josie Conner is $2,440 behind Rylee George, so the semifinal floor alone puts Conner back at No. 3 on Sunday’s numbers. Danielle Lowman is roping too, and a win would take her from No. 9 to $150,857, past Haiden Thompson, Cadee Williams and Taylor Munsell.
Jordi Edens-Mitchell won the most of anyone this week, $14,100 across the two long rounds in Sioux Falls. Away from Sioux Falls, Suzanne Williams won the most in the top 22, $3,821 across Amarillo and Stephenville, Texas, and Poway, California, but she stayed at No. 12.
Beau Peterson won $2,316 in Stephenville and $893 in New Braunfels, Texas, and passed Bradi Good for No. 16. Jill Tanner added $1,712 in Amarillo and New Braunfels to her $3,133 Round 1 check and holds No. 15.

On Sunday’s numbers, the top 12 stay in the top 15 no matter what happens in Sioux Falls. The last three spots come down to six cowgirls: Aspen Miller at No. 13, Jenna Dallyn at No. 14 and Tanner at No. 15, plus Good, Martha Angelone and Jackie Crawford, who all rope in the semifinals with Tanner.
Tanner’s $4,500 floor takes her to $97,767, past Dallyn. A top-three finish in the final keeps her in the top 15 no matter what anyone else does. If she places fourth or doesn’t advance, she stays in unless two of Good, Angelone and Crawford finish ahead of her.
Good needs to make the finals. The $4,500 floor takes her to $94,857, past Peterson but still short of Dallyn. That means Good can’t make the finals, Angelone can’t finish third or better and Crawford can’t finish second or better. Miller drops out only if three of the four finish ahead of her.
The same floor that helps Tanner and Good works against Peterson. They both pass her on Sunday whatever happens in the semifinals, so her only way back into the top 15 is money somewhere else before the Sept. 30 cutoff. She’s 2.4 and sitting sixth in Tyler, Texas, which is still going.
The semifinals is Sunday at the Denny Sanford Premier Center, and the regular season ends Sept. 30.
