Just that GOOD. Bradi Good Makes Stellar Mud Run to Advance to Gold Medal Round

Bradi Good won the WCRA Days of ’47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo third semi-finals performance during a thunderstorm with a 2.58-second run, to advance to the Gold Medal Round.

Bradi Good, of Abilene, Texas, finished strong in the third performance of the WCRA Days of ’47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo semi-finals despite muddy conditions after the lightning, wind and rainstorm blew over the arena which delayed the rodeo on Thursday, July 22.

Good, 19, was the fifth breakaway roper out during the performance and stopped the clock in 2.58 seconds to win the performance, worth $1,600, and advanced to the Gold Medal Round on Saturday, July 24.

Bradi Good takes a look at her run on the replay screen at the WCRA Days of ’47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo.

“I know that my horse is a mud horse, so I just took the best shot that I could, and it worked out,” said Good, who is attending Weatherford (Texas) College. “Anything can happen. The three girls that were after me rope so good, so you never know. I figured with the Wild Card I would still be in a pretty good spot, but [the fourth performance] is really stacked, so I wanted to get out of here No. 1.”

Good drew a calf that left the chute and ran a straight pattern to give her a shot three swings out of the box.

“That’s really what you want,” Good said. “I knew that it was probably going to be good if I got out and I got a shot at him.”

Fortunately, Good’s sorrel gelding Rango, whom she purchased from Seven-time NFR qualifier Timber Moore, enjoys running and stopping hard in the mud.

“Tyler Milligan rode him at the finals in the tie-down. Madi (Outhier) won Deadwood, South Dakota on him, and we both made it back to (the performances) at Cheyenne (Frontier Days) riding him,” Good said. “He’s a blessing. He’s so fast across the line. He loves the mud and it worked out right.”

Good also drew up in the barrel race in the same performance, but due to the weather conditions the committee decided to postpone the barrel race until Friday, July 23, to ensure that the barrel racers and their horses would have safer conditions to run in.

“I really thought that everything else was going to get canceled,” Good said. “When they said that we were still going to rope I figured let’s just do what I was planning on doing and try to be fast. Hopefully, I’ll double dip in the barrels, but I’m going to stick to the same game plan which is to get out and throw it as fast as I can.”
