Julie Mankin is a former newspaper editor and Wyoming-based freelance writer whose work has appeared in Western Horseman, American Cowboy, The Team Roping Journal and more. As a breakaway roper, she finished within the top five in the nation at the College National Finals Rodeo and a Colorado Professional Rodeo Association championship.
