FORT WORTH, Tex. – In mid-December, WCRA (World Champions Rodeo Alliance) will bring world-class rodeo back to Texas with the four-day Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo in Fort Worth at the legendary Cowtown Coliseum Dec. 14-17.

Riding an unbelievable wave of momentum, RC Landingham (Hat Creek, California) could make western sports history as he caps off a dominant 2022 Triple Crown of Rodeo series by winning the Triple Crown of Rodeo: a $1 million bonus to any one athlete or collection of athletes who win first place in any three consecutive majors.

Landingham, a 32-year-old bareback rider, is fresh off his win at Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo, the event marked his second consecutive WCRA Major, putting him in contention to be a millionaire. If Landingham triumphs at the Cowtown Christmas Championship rodeo, he will be the first victor of the WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo $1 Million Bonus.

The Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo will be the final of four major events comprising the 2022 WCRA Triple Crown of Rodeo. The first stop of the 2022 series was held in Corpus Christi, Texas followed by events in Fort Worth, and Salt Lake City.

Other athletes who were victorious in Salt Lake City at the Utah Days of ’47 Rodeo, who will be looking for their second win to remain Triple Crown eligible are: Allen Boore (Saddle Bronc Riding), Kaleb Driggers (Team Roping- Header), Junior Nogueira (Team Roping- Heeler), Cash Robb (Steer Wrestling), Josie Conner (Breakaway Roping), and Shane Hanchey (Tie-Down Roping).

The landmark event will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 14, showcasing more than 200 athletes competing in each of the nine rodeo disciplines: bareback riding, women’s breakaway roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping heading, team roping heeling, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. A collective $360,000 will be on the line, and each champion will be awarded a check for $15,000.

The Cowtown Christmas Championship Rodeo begins with performance one at 7:30 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Dec. 14 and will continue nightly through the final performance on Saturday, Dec. 17.
