COW HORSE CROSSOVER

Jackie Crawford, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Three More Breakaway Cowgirls Ride at Big Guns in Cowtown

Five breakaway cowgirls team with NRCHA Professionals Oct. 21 at Cowtown Coliseum for a $25,000 first-place check and charity. Here’s how to watch on Ride TV.

Breakaway ropers are taking them down the fence in Cowtown.

Jackie Crawford, Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, Sarah Angelone, Hali Williams and Linsay Sumpter will chase a $25,000 first-place check down the fence Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the National Reined Cow Horse Association (NRCHA) Foundation’s Big Guns in Cowtown at the historic Cowtown Coliseum in the Fort Worth Stockyards.

The fence-only showcase pairs 22 rodeo athletes with NRCHA Professionals as coaches. Second place pays $10,000 and third pays $5,000, and more than $100,000 has been pledged in charitable donations—half of it to charities the athletes chose.

Crawford, the 2020 Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) world champion breakaway roper and breakaway’s first $1 million ProRodeo cowgirl, rides with NRCHA Professional Erin Taormino.

Boisjoli-Meged won the 2023 world title with a then-record $197,706, finished 2025 No. 2 in the world and is headed to her seventh straight National Finals Breakaway Roping (NFBR). NRCHA Million Dollar Rider Todd Bergen coaches her, and her husband, 2019 PRCA tie-down roping world champion Haven Meged, is also entered.

Angelone, the 2022 WPRA all-around champion, also won the breakaway average at that year’s WPRA World Finals. She rides with NRCHA Professional Ben Baldus.

Williams won Rounds 1, 3 and 4 at the 2025 NFBR and is qualified again for 2026. Her coach is NRCHA Professional Sarah Dawson.

Sumpter, the Premier Women’s Rodeo commissioner and longtime Otero College head rodeo coach, rides with NRCHA Professional Brendon Clark.

The field also includes world champions Hailey Kinsel, Shad Mayfield, Luke Branquinho and J.D. Struxness.
