The second year of the North Dakota Rough Rider’s Cup is unfolded in Mandan, North Dakota, Sept. 19–21 with $45,000 in added money for breakaway ropers.

The rodeo invited the top 32 breakaway ropers in the WPRA World Standings, and the remaining four entries were filled by the champions from the following qualifying rodeos: Dickinson and Mandan, North Dakota, as well as Deadwood and Rapid City, South Dakota.

Find the format and results for the North Dakota Rough Rider Cup below.

North Dakota Rough Rider Cup format, implications

The Mandan rodeo is a one-go format, and breakaway will pay eight holes compared to the normal ProRodeo 15.

The rodeo serves as the last chance for breakaway ropers to qualify for the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls–a big-ticket opportunity that could make or break Las Vegas dreams. Four spots to Sioux Falls were filled in Puyallup in early September, and eight remain.

Seeded into Sioux Falls:

  • Rylee George
  • Zoie Bedke
  • Hali Williams
  • Martha Angelone

The top eight in the playoff series tour points is too close to call, with Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Suzanne Williams currently within 10 points of one another for the No. 8 position.

@breakawayropingjournal YEAH you did Cadee Williams 😎 Rank 2.0-second run and enough cash at the Roughrider Cup in Monday to push her well inside the top 30 for an invitation to the 2026 Building Rodeos. @resistol1927 ♬ original sound – Rap Lib
