Cinch Breakaway Roping Championships Finale Proves Breakaway’s Number System Pays at Every Level

From a $29k payday at the top to a $10k win in the #2, the Cinch BRC Finale showed exactly why its new format is gaining traction.

From a $29,245 payday for Chloe Lambert to a $10,000 win in the #2 roping for Mollie Devereaux, the 2026 Cinch Breakaway Roping Championships Finale proved its format pays across the board.

Winning at the Top

What started as a reset weekend turned into a $29,245 payday for Chloe Lambert.

“I didn’t even really realize how much I’d won until I got home,” Lambert said.

Originally from Fallon, Nevada, and now based in Stephenville, Texas, Lambert cashed in across multiple ropings, highlighted by a win in the #5 Slide and a second-place finish in the Open.

After placing in the Open, she rolled straight into the #5 Slide and kept the momentum going.

“I just told myself to reset and rope my calves,” she said. “My mare worked really good, and I just kept drawing good.”

Run after run, things kept clicking. By the time the short round came around, Lambert capitalized again, sealing the biggest payday of the weekend.

But while Lambert led the earnings, she wasn’t the only one cashing in—and that’s exactly the point.

Where the Format Really Shows Up

Mollie Devereaux entered the weekend as a #2 roper—and left with $10,370.

Not bad for someone who hadn’t entered a breakaway in years.

“I think that’s the first breakaway roping I’ve been to since my college days,” Devereaux said.

A lifelong team roper from Henrietta, Oklahoma, Devereaux got back into breakaway alongside her son—and the BRC format gave her a place to do it.

“It just allows everybody to have a place to go rope and compete in their division,” she said. “For people getting into it, that’s huge.”

For Devereaux, the weekend wasn’t just about the money.

It was about getting back in the arena—and doing it alongside her family.

“It’s a family affair at my house,” she said. “We’re out there for hours roping together.”

What is the Cinch BRC Finale?

The Cinch BRC Finale is built to be different.

It’s open to everyone—no qualifications required—and brings together pro athletes, up-and-comers and first-time ropers in one championship-style event. Instead of separating competitors by association or entry path, the format meets ropers where they’re at.

“I really, really like the classification system,” Lambert said. “Not everybody wants to go rope against someone like Martha. This gives people a place to go where they can be competitive.”

In short, it’s a place where everyone gets a shot.

How the Classification System Works

At the center of it all is a six-number classification system designed to group ropers by experience and earnings.

  • #1 – brand new to breakaway, roping on a sled
  • #2 – under $5,000 in lifetime earnings
  • #3 – $5,000–$30,000, no major finals appearances
  • #4 – $30,000–$60,000, no recent pro card
  • #5 – $60,000–$100,000, top amateur competitors
  • #6 – $100,000+, professional level, NFBR-caliber
