The 2024 American Rodeo breakaway horsepower is undeniable as half of the field guns for $100K and the remainder has their eyes set on a $1 million opportunity.

Each American Rodeo breakaway horse will make a run in the 10-man round, with the four fastest making it back another run that determines the American Rodeo Champion.

Martha Angelone – Gunna Shock Ya (probably)

Barn name: Jesse James

Jesse James was a part of the team that earned Martha Angelone her 2022 WPRA Breakaway World Championship.

Shelby Boisjoli–Meged – No Wimpy Turns

Barn name: Onna

The two-time Nutrena Horse of The Year “Onna” was Shelby Boisjoli–Meged’s “mane” mount during her historic 2023 ProRodeo season that saw her break the season earnings record and finish the year with $197,706.

Sarah Angelone – Dont Cry To Me Wendy

Barn name: Wilma

Wilma hit her first big year of ProRodeo with Sarah Angelone in 2023 and showed out, advancing Angelone to her first-ever NFBR berth.

Taylor Munsell – Hotrod Song

Barn name: Colonel

Colonel has become a mainstay in Taylor Munsell’s string—stepping in for Munsell’s iconic gelding “Monster.” At the 2023 NFBR, Colonel nimbly hopped under Munsell and saved her from hitting the dirt as she lost balance at the end of a run.

Hali Williams – Stylish Red Light

Barn name: Redlight

Hali Williams won 2023 RodeoHouston on Redlight, winning $50,000. Her father Speed Williams team ropes on the gelding, too.

Barn name: Cookie

Jordan Jo Hollabaugh won $15,000 in the first few days of 2024 at the WCRA’s Stampede at the E on “Cookie.”

JJ Hampton – Bet On The Son

Barn name: Sparky

JJ Hampton’s only had gelding “Sparkplug” for a few months, but the 18-time WPRA World Champion has been getting with him quickly, advancing through the American Rodeo Contender Tournament on him.

Bailey Bates – Grade – Rocket

Barn name: Rocket

New Mexico cowgirl and Navajo community member Bailey Bates is riding grade gelding “Rocket” for her chance at $1 million.

Josie Conner – Stylish Drifter
