The Riata Buckle’s $100,000-guaranteed breakaway roping, featuring 32 of the best young horses in the industry, will stream LIVE on breakawayroping.com and Roping.com Nov. 3, 2022, from the Lazy E Arena.

Top talents like World Champs Sawyer Gilbert and Erin Johnson will rope against the likes of Loni Lester, Cheyanne Guillory and Taylor Munsell over two go-rounds on futurity-aged horses—only on breakawayroping.com and roping.com.

The breakaway will be an Open 3D—for Riata Buckle-eligible horses of all ages—as well as a Riata-Buckle 2D Futurity for horses 5 and under. For women only riding Riata Buckle-eligible horses only, the event kicks off at 12 p.m. to start the weekend’s ropings. All horses must be current on the nomination schedule for the Riata Buckle, and nomination is due with entry. Only one nomination is due per horse, per year. The roping also offers a youth incentive is open to girls 14 and under at the time of entry.

A membership to breakawayroping.com OR roping.com is required to view the stream.

“This will be one of the richest breakaway ropings of the year,” Clint Robinson, NFR tie-down roper and Riata Buckle Breakaway organizer, said. “And with the D system, ropers who aren’t always going head-to-head on the rodeo road can compete and win, too.”

While all Riata Buckle’s futurity eligibility is for one year only, a breakaway entry does not affect futurity eligibility for the team roping. A rope horse could theoretically breakaway its 4-year-old year and still be eligible to team rope in its 5-year-old year.

NFR tie-down roper Justin Maass and World Champion Shane Hanchey will provide the calves—the same user-friendly pen they use at their jackpots in Giddings, Texas.
