The 2023 WPRA Pro Rodeo Breakaway season has started, and ladies are wrapping up the winter rodeos and preparing to tackle the summer season, including the rookies. The newcomers are preparing to battle for their shot at the year-end Resistol Rookie title and the chance to qualify for the National Finals Breakaway Rodeo.

Texas’ MaryBeth Beam is leading the field in the Resistol Rookie of the Year race with $4,526 in earnings. Beam moved into No. 1 after tying for second in Mercedes, Texas, March 16–18 with a time of 1.8 seconds, earnings $3,361.
