In the newest episode of The Breakdown Podcast, hear from Shelby Boisjoli-Meged following her win at the Solo Select Stallion Incentive Futurity Championship on gelding Reyzed On Sugar, better known as “Clark.”
The pair made history at the inaugural Solo Select Stallion Incentive Breakaway Futurity, earning $12,488 and the very first title at the Circle T Arena in Hamilton, Texas.
On the newest episode of The Breakdown, Boisjoli-Meged takes listeners behind the scenes of her win and her growing string of young stars.
Boisjoli-Meged recounts buying Clark sight unseen as a three-year-old—after a casual Instagram message from Liz Hirdes—and laughing when husband Haven Meged asked, “What are you going to do with this pony?” From there, the so-called “ugliest horse on the place” became one of her most talented, topping three of four rounds in Hamilton, including the clean slate finals.
The episode also explores Boisjoli-Meged’s longtime belief in the Kit Kat Sugar line, which has become a cornerstone of her futurity success, and how she balances an intense ProRodeo schedule with building the next generation of champions.
“Last winter just about kicked my butt,” she admits with a laugh, “but now we’ve got an army of good ones. You could throw a rock in the pasture, hit one, saddle it, and go win something.”
Whether you’re a breeder, trainer, or breakaway fan, this episode offers a firsthand look at the horses and horsewomen pushing the sport forward.
