2024 Breakaway Standings Breakdown by Roper

No. 15 Rylee George, $30,595

Rylee George is no stranger to the breakaway pen, having qualified—and won the Year-End Championship—at the California Circuit Finals during her Resistol Rookie Year in 2023.

George has been riding her head horse “Wright Style,” known as “Royce.” Royce is a 2011 model sired by the late reined cow horse stallion Hes Wright On, and traces back to Shining Spark and Docs Stylish Oak on the bottom side.

“My head horse is the fastest one I own, so with these long scores and fresh calves, you never know what you’re going to get,” George said. “It’s hard to take a horse that wants to get tight out to a long score.”

George is hauling with three-time NFBR Qualifier Cheyanne McCartney and Montana Brown.

No. 14 Hali Williams, $30,043

After skipping the winter rodeo season due to a lingering brevis tendon and ACL injury, Hali Williams is back on the rodeo road with horse string including; Red Light, Hummer and Blaze. Red Light, who she won 2023 RodeoHouston on, has been in the team roping pen with father and eight-time time World Champion Speed Williams while Williams has been rehabbing.

Since entering again, Williams has quickly risen from the mid-30s in the WPRA breakaway standings to No. 14—most recently thanks to a $2,120 payday at the El Paso Rodeo behind Danielle Lowman.

Other paydays Williams has garnered include $3,754 at Rodeo Austin, $2,291 at Walker County Fair Association in Huntsville, $2,661 at Rodeo Killeen, and $2,749 at the Mt. Pleasant Rodeo—all in Texas

No. 13 Bradi Good, $31,107

Bradi Good has her eye on the top five in the World this year—and is planning to use her tight-knit hauling group of Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Kendal Pierson to push herself to greater heights.

In the trailer is her trusted “Rango” and newcomer “Roofie,” a 5-year-old gelding who came from the breakaway futurity industry. Good told Breakaway Roping Journal in a recent article

“Rango is one of the fastest horses out there going, and he’s so quick across the line that he excels at long scores like Cheyenne and Salinas,” Good said. “He’s super free and never takes my throw away. I just love him. Roofie is a lot like Rango. He’s sired by Not Ruf At All and I am super excited about him this summer. I’m going to take him and show him the ropes.”

No. 12 Willow Wilson, $31,145

Willow Wilson is usually a team roping header (and the first woman to make the team roping finals at Cheyenne), but has been picking up the breakaway rope more often these days.

She won the 2023 Mountain States Year-End Championship and continued her roll in 2024, consistently winning check after check in go-rounds and average races at ProRodeos. Some of Wilson’s larger paydays include $4,625 at RodeoHouston, $6,381 at Rodeo Austin and $1,728 at the Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, NV.

No. 11 Kelsie Domer, $33,600

Kelsie Domer’s been leading an unassuming (but effective) ProRodeo campaign heading into Cowboy Christmas. The two-time NFBR Qualifier has been picking up checks at places like the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo and the Woodward Elks Rodeo in OK, totaling $11,495 and $5,010, respectively.

No. 10 Martha Angelone, $35,165

Martha Angelone has turned on the jets in the last month, moving from No. 15 to No. 10 thanks to paydays of $3,470 at the Guymon Pioneer Days Rodeo in OK, $2,692 at the Will Rogers Stampede in Claremore, OK, and $3,006 at the Parker County Sheriff Posse’s Frontier Days in Weatherford, TX.

On The Breakdown Podcast, Angelone noted that she’s heading out for the summer alone, a change-up from her 2023 strategy where she hauled with sister Sarah Angelone for the majority of the summer.

“When it’s just you, you’re more tired driving, but there is less to worry about and you can just focus on yourself,” Angelone said.

No. 9 Macy Young, $38,270

In a spring that was marked by an excellent showing at RodeoHouston—where she netted $16,805—and her second-ever BFI win, Macy Young has

The Whittmann, AZ, cowgirl has already graced the NFBR stage once, in 2020, and now she appears primed to make her second appearance.

No. 8 Jordan Jo Hollabaugh, $38,334

NFBR Qualifier Jordan Jo Hollabaugh has been busy this spring making sure her name stays securely nestled into the top 10 WPRA Breakaway Standings. The former college rodeo coach rode mare “Cookie” to a win at the WCRA’s Stampede at the E in January before advancing to the finals The American in March and the Women’s Rodeo World Championships in May.

If anything, the repeated finale finishes show that Hollabaugh is locked in when it comes to rodeo competition in 2024. She’s won $5,625 in the month of June so far.

No. 7 Rickie Fanning, $41,439

Rickie Fanning is marching onward despite losing her A-stringer “Rolo” in early May. Her winter rodeo checks include $4,880 at the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo and $4,065 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. Recently, she recently picked up $3,711 at the Dinosaur Roundup Rodeo in Vernal, UT.

No. 6 Maddy Deerman, $42,718

A strong 2023 Turquoise Circuit finish and equally as respectable winter rodeo season has Maddy Deerman at one of her highest points ever in the WPRA Breakaway Standings. The Texas Tech graduate student won $16,044 at the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, $5,648 at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and $3,844 at the Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, OR, this past weekend.

No. 5 Josie Conner, $46,221

Josie Conner is on a roll, earning $19,808 in the month of June alone. She won The Home of the Navajo Nation in Window Rock, AZ, for $4,117, gathered up $3,006 at the Parker County Sheriff Posse’s Frontier Days in Weatherford, TX, and won the Crooked River Roundup in Prineville, OR, for $5,302.

No. 4 Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, $52,910

The reigning World Champion has been sitting cooly in the No. 4 position for several months, thanks to the money earned at the 2023 Montana Circuit Finals, a smattering of winter rodeos including $4,320 at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, $6,370 at RodeoHouston, $5,786 at Rodeo Austin, and most recently $4,625 win at the Parker County Sheriff Posse’s Frontier Days in Weatherford.

No. 3 Taylor Munsell, $62,666

Taylor Munsell posted a strong winter rodeo season, and has kept up repeated placings throughout the spring at rodeos including No. 2 in the average at Rodeo Austin for a total of $9,758 and $3,173 at the Red Bluff Round-Up in CA.

Munsell has an extra reason to be excited about the summer run, too, with star gelding “Monster” back in the trailer following a hock injury sustained at a muddy rodeo.

No. 2 Danielle Lowman, $70,071

The Navajo Nation’s fiery representative Danielle Lowman won her way across the winter rodeo circuit—taking the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo and Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Championship Titles. She hasn’t slowed down since, either, stretching barriers for the win at places like the El Paso Rodeo this past weekend, picking up $2,735 for her 2.1-second time.

She and No. 1 Jackie Crawford have a playfully competitive relationship, teasing one another on social media. The rest of the summer will be good watching between the Navajo gunslinger and breakaway industry titan.

No. 1 Jackie Crawford, $83,314

The leader of the 2024 breakaway standings is none other than Jackie Crawford, 23-time WPRA World Champion and three-time NFBR Qualifier.

Crawford won the 2024 rendition of RodeoHouston, which paid $50,000. Since then she’s been picking up checks here and there—mostly on new bay gelding “Backtrack.”

Despite no paydays in the last week, Crawford is tied for No. 2 in the average at the Reno Rodeo with a 5.7-second time.
