There are less than two months left in the ProRodeo breakaway season, and more money than ever on the table with events including North Dakota’s Rough Rider Cup in Mandan and the Cinch Playoffs Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls hanging over breakaway ropers both inside and outside the Top 15.
In 2023, it took $66,742 to advance to the NFBR. And with about seven weeks left to ProRodeo in 2024, that No. 15 position already boasts $54,671, strongly suggesting the 2023 benchmark will be blown out of the water.
Throughout the 2024 ProRodeo season, there have been murmurings that the breakaway field is tougher than ever. But why is that? The Breakaway Roping Journal asked the top ladies out on the road why they think the competition is extra stiff in 2024.
No. 20, Beau Peterson – $40,506
NFBR Qualifications: 1 (2022)
Money earned in the last month: $4,377.76
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“There are so many girls competing and lots of good ropers. The draw of the calves play a huge factor anymore, especially at one headers. With 150 girls or more roping you have to draw a good calf that will allow you to [catch a check]. Short set-ups require less horsemanship, and there seems to be more short set-ups than long.”
No. 19, Tacy Webb – $42,338
NFBR Qualifications: 0
Money earned in the last month: $15,384.76
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“I mostly circuit rodeoed in 2023, so I don’t feel like I don’t have a big picture for comparison. But I do think the rodeos are getting better—they have always been tough and will always be—but at least the committees are trying to make them better for us.”

“I think it’s tougher and going to get tougher and tougher every year. The amount of talent and good horses is amazing, and the money and rodeos are getting better as well.”
No. 14, Rylee George – $56,520
NFBR Qualifications: 0
Money earned in the last month: $25,925.46

No. 12, Bradi Good – $59,223
NFBR Qualifications: 1 (2023)
Money earned in the last month: $17,670.56
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“I think girls are starting to figure out the longer scores and different set ups, so it’s getting faster and faster. I think there was a transition needed between the faster Texas rodeos and the other ProRodeos, and this year a lot of girls changed the way they rope and ride their horses. We’re finally settling in and getting comfortable at the ProRodeos, and I think it’s just going to get more competitive from here.”
No. 11, Jordan Jo Hollabaugh – $62,237
NFBR Qualifications: 1 (2020)

NFBR Qualifications: 1 (2020)
Money earned in the last month: $25,776.44
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“Honestly this game is getting tougher every year, and girls are getting more aggressive. Plus, with more rodeos having added equal money we can win more in one place. The equal money is more appealing to me because you can go to the bigger ones and not drive all over.”
No. 9, Hali Williams – $68,754
NFBR Qualifications: 1 (2023)
Money earned in the last month: $32,768.79
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“I think the rookie girls coming to the rodeo scene this year have been able to watch the Cowboy Channel the past couple years, see the set ups and get themselves ready to come out here. And the girls that are out here every year know that we almost always beat previous years’ times by .1 or .2 of-a-second. So, our rodeos just continue to get faster every year and we have to account for that and continue to push ourselves to become better and faster.”
No. 8, Maddy Deerman – $71,739
NFBR Qualifications: 0
Money earned in the last month: $26,315.49
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“I didn’t go a lot last year, but I am seeing more consistency and faster times this year, especially in tournament-style set ups or where you rope multiple calves.”
No. 7, Rickie Fanning – $71,973
NFBR Qualifications: 2 (2022, 2023)
Money earned in the last month: $30,534.29
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“The money to get into the [NFBR] this year is definitely going to be more than 2023. I believe there are a lot of really talented ladies out there, and they’re hitting more rodeos. Lots of people are focusing on the Playoff Rodeos too, so hitting them also means hitting the ones around them or to-and-from. Everyone’s bringing their A-game, which makes it more exciting and challenging.”
No. 6, Martha Angelone – $80,805
NFBR Qualifications: 4 (2020–2023)
Money earned in the last month: $45,640.90
What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“I believe that this year is a tougher, and the money is more spread out. The rodeos have gotten better everyone’s been winning so much… it’s going to be a really cool World Title race this year. I think it’s gonna come down to the very end and somebody isn’t gonna run away with it like they have for the past couple years.”
No. 5, Danielle Lowman – $81,358
NFBR Qualifications: 2 (2021, 2023)
Money earned in the last month: $9,110.47

What’s your take on the 2024 season?
“Breakaway has been growing every year since they added it to the PRCA, and it’s excelling in 2024. It’s gotten tougher, the horses have gotten better, and the girls are starting to figure out how to rodeo and enter. On top of the fact that not only are there more rodeos, but they’re getting better with more added money.”
“Something I think is so cool to watch is how the horsepower has changed and how the handy the girls are getting their horses. It’s a really cool thing and I happy to be a part of it.”
No. 1, Jackie Crawford – $110,856
NFBR Qualifications: 3 (2020, 2021, 2023)
