Nineteen-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association World Champion Jackie Crawford is one of 15 breakaway ropers that made the most anticipated entry call to ProCom on Oct. 26, 2020.
Crawford has sat beside her husband and 10-time NFR qualifier Charly Crawford as he called in to ProCom to enter the National Finals Rodeo, and dreamed that one day she could do the same. Now, in 2020, Crawford made the call she’s be dreaming of and is officially entered to rope at the National Finals of Breakaway Roping in the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, Dec. 8-10, in conjunction with the NFR. Here’s how the entry process went, in her own words:

The Anticipation
I think first of all, thank goodness for people who remind me, honestly. I’m one of those people that need reminded all the time. But for this one it was like, you set it in your phone, make sure you have an alarm set—the whole thing. ‘Do not forget this one’. It was almost like a sickening feeling, like, ‘What if I forget to call in?’
Entering Through ProCom
It’s crazy. It’s just such a weird feeling. It’s almost surreal, but this is actually happening, I’ve actually heard this conversation before, but I never thought that I would be having it. It’s like, ‘holy crap, I’m actually getting to say this with my name on here—my card number. This is insane.’ Then you’re like, ‘do they really know what we’re talking about?’
Hang Up the Phone
You just feel like a little kid, all giggly. You just want to squeal and be silly. We’re going! It’s happening!
