Cowboy Christmas 2025 saw breakaway roping pushed to new heights, with Josie Conner’s 2024 leading $15,815 figure topped by Erin Johnson with $16,628 and a tightly-packed group of ladies on her heels.
Only $2,550 separates the top five earners from breakaway’s 2025 cowboy christmas.
What is cowboy christmas? It’s a densely-packed stretch of ProRodeos that take place around the Fourth of July. The money-making opportunities are so abundant that cowboys dubbed the time “cowboy christmas.” The Breakaway Roping Journal tallied rodeos starting with the Greeley Stampede in Colorado and ending with the World’s Oldest Rodeo in Prescott, Arizona.
