Madison Outhier won more money than any cowgirl in breakaway roping over the past week, banking $12,702 on two rodeo wins to move to a projected No. 8 in the WPRA Pro Rodeo Breakaway World Standings.

The Utopia, Texas, cowgirl was 2.1 to win That Famous Preston Night Rodeo in Preston, Idaho, for $5,866, then built $6,836 more at the Dodge City Roundup the hard way—a tie for third in the first round with a 2.5 for $1,796, third in the short go with a 3.1 for $998, and the average title at 8.6 seconds on three head for $4,042.

For all that, she moved one spot. The top of these standings is bunched tight enough that the biggest week in breakaway roping bought Outhier a single place.

Here is how all 10 of the week’s top earners cashed in.

1. Madison Outhier—$12,702

Won Preston with a 2.1 for $5,866. At Dodge City she tied for third in the first round with a 2.5 for $1,796, placed third in the short go with a 3.1 for $998, then won the average at 8.6 on three head for $4,042—$6,836 from that rodeo alone.

2. Aspen Miller—$10,083

Won the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo in Castle Rock, Colorado, outright with a 2.3 for $6,853. Tied for fifth at Preston with a 2.4 for $1,857 and tied for sixth at the War Bonnett Round Up with a 2.6 for $1,373.

3. Rylee A George—$9,267

George was second everywhere she went. She tied for second at Preston with a 2.2 for $4,253, then finished second in both the Dodge City short go (3.0, $1,497) and the Dodge City average (9.2, $3,464). A 2.9 at Phillipsburg added $53.

4. Jade Mitchell—$8,751

Mitchell won the Dodge City short go with a 2.8 for $1,996 and was fourth in the average at 10.5 for $2,502. She also tied George for second at Preston with a 2.2 for $4,253.

5. Kirby Rawlinson—$8,715

The rookie was 1.8 to win Kansas’ Biggest Rodeo in Phillipsburg for $5,269, then placed third at the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo in Abilene with a 2.1 for $3,446. Two Kansas rodeos, two of the week’s fastest runs.

6. Taylor Munsell—$8,340

Munsell was 1.9 to win Wild Bill Hickok for $5,302 and turned in the fastest run of the week anywhere—a 1.7 to win the second round at Dodge City—for $2,695 more. A 3.4 at Douglas County added $343.

7. Rickie Engesser—$7,086

Engesser roped in three states and cashed in all of them: a 2.1 to win the War Bonnett Round Up for $4,991, a tie for third at the Black Canyon Stock Show with a 2.7 for $1,519, and a tie for 10th at Big Sky with a 2.8 for $576.

8. Amy Ohrt—$6,380

Ohrt was 2.4 for second behind Miller at Douglas County for $5,482 and tied for fifth in the Dodge City first round with a 2.6 for $898. It was the biggest week of the year for the Victoria, Texas, rookie, and it reshapes the Resistol Rookie race—see our full rookie breakdown.

9. Taylor Engesser—$5,414

Engesser was 2.0 for second at Big Sky in Great Falls for $2,835 and tied for third at the War Bonnett Round Up with a 2.4 for $2,579.

10. Kenzie Hay—$5,250

Hay was 2.0 for second at Wild Bill Hickok for $4,241 and won Mesquite with a 2.2 for $1,009.

The Rest of the Week

Four more rodeos paid out before the calendar flipped. Kiley Gibson was 2.7 to win the Jayhawker Round-Up in Hill City, Kansas, for $1,063. Josie Mousel took the Sac County Fair and PRCA Rodeo in Sac City, Iowa, with a 2.4 for $1,172. Britney Butzer won the Cecil County Fair Pro Rodeo in Elkton, Maryland, with a 2.6 for $1,036. And at the High Prairie Elks Pro Rodeo in Alberta, Keely Pugh and Longview, Alberta’s Bradi Whiteside split the win at 2.3 for $1,364 each—the biggest check of the four.

All in, breakaway roping paid out $302,257 across 22 rodeos from July 27 through August 2.

Projected Top 20

Note the window here is narrower than the money-leaders section above. The money leaders cover the full week; these projections only add rodeos concluding on or after July 31. Movement is measured against the July 31 baseline ranking.

Aspen Miller’s four-spot climb is the biggest inside the top 20, and it came at the expense of a cowgirl who did not rope for money all week: Jaci Hammons slips from No. 18 to a projected No. 21 on a blank week. Rylee George’s $9,267 moves her to No. 3, and Munsell’s two Kansas checks move her from No. 6 to No. 4, past both Cadee Williams and Jordi Edens-Mitchell. Cadee Williams’ $603 at West Yellowstone was not enough to hold No. 3, and she drops two.

At the top, nothing is close. McCartney’s projected $163,726.90 puts her $40,621.84 ahead of Hali Williams. But the third-place gap has tightened considerably: George’s week cuts Williams’ cushion to $9,434.64, down from more than $14,000.

Dodge City did the heavy lifting this week. The rodeo paid four of the top eight earners, and the average alone was worth $4,042 to Outhier, $3,464 to George and $2,887 to Josie Conner—which is what keeps Conner at No. 7, $8,979 clear of Outhier despite Outhier winning the rodeo.

The Top 15 Cutline

Maddy Jacobs’ $4,902 week—a tie for third at Douglas County and a tie for fifth at Phillipsburg—moves her past Jill Tanner and into the projected No. 15 hole at $68,932.14. Tanner, who has roped at 25 rodeos to Jacobs’ 45, sits $3,474.74 back at No. 16 without a check this week.

Behind them, Aspen Miller at No. 17 is now $4,175 from the cutline after one week. Amy Ohrt at a projected No. 22 is $12,704 out.
