WPRA Sanctioned Breakaway Roping Added to Canadian Professional Rodeo Association Events

The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) and the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) are pleased to announce the expansion of their long standing agreement to now include sanctioning of women’s breakaway roping in Canada.

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) and the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association (CPRA) are pleased to announce the expansion of their long standing agreement to now include sanctioning of women’s breakaway roping in Canada.

WPRA breakaway roping will be added to seven of the remaining rodeos on the schedule for the 2021 season with plans for many more events in the 2022 season adding breakaway roping.

“We would like to thank the CPRA for working with us to expand the opportunities available to our members north of the border and look forward to seeing how much we can grow the event in Canada in 2022,” said Jolee Jordan, WPRA Roping Director. “We continue to see committees come on board daily, that are including breakaway roping, and this is a big step for us to expand into the Maple Leaf Circuit.”

The seven upcoming rodeos slated to have breakaway roping in Canada for the 2021 season include:

Innisfail, Alberta September 2-4

Taber, Alberta (new rodeo) September 9-10

Coronation, Alberta September 10-12

Taber, Alberta (new rodeo) September 11-12

Olds, Alberta September 17-18

Medicine Hat, Alberta September 17-19

Edmonton, Alberta (new rodeo) September 24-25

Money won at any of these rodeos by WPRA card holding members will be added to their ProRodeo Breakaway World Standings.

“The CPRA is excited to be able to offer breakaway roping to the members and that committees have really stepped up to show support of the event,” said Randa Nugent, CPRA Rodeo Administrator. “This is a great opportunity for our breakaway roping members and we are excited to continue to work with the WPRA in expanding this discipline.”

Members can find additional information on each event listed above under the rodeo schedule tab on the WPRA website. Breakaway roping is now being approved by the WPRA in all 13 circuits.
