The Calgary Stampede hosted its inaugural breakaway competition at the Rocky Mountain Cup Rodeo in Calgary, Alberta, July 12, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. MT.
It’s all happened down the road from The Calgary Stampede at the Nutrien Western Event Center, where the team roping competition was held, too.
Taylor Munsell came away with the victory, roping in 3.6, 2.9, and 4.3-seconds to advance to the sudden death round alongside Jackie Crawford, Jordi Edens and Taylor Hanchey. There, Munsell stopped the clock in 1.7 seconds, good for a $12,500 payday.
