Harley Pryor and Kinlie Brennise bested the Pro and Challenger fields of competition, respectively, at the Women’s Rodeo World Championship and are headed to the WRWC Semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023.

Their runs took place inside the storied Cowtown Coliseum during the Round 2 performance on Friday morning at 10 a.m., with Pryor, 14, adding a 2.47-second run to her first round 2.79-second run.

WRWC Pro Division Aggregate Leader: Harley Pryor and Tick

“I was planning on making a business run,” Pryor said. “Be on the barrier and do my best. I didn’t know the calf because it looked different than what I thought I had. I just got a good start—that box is long, so you go right with them.”

Pryor, who is from Moore Haven, Florida, rode new gelding “Tick” to the victory. The pair just got done competing at the Florida High School Rodeo Association Finals a few days before, and Pryor wanted to keep up their momentum together.

“He’s pretty rank,” Pryor noted. “I got him from Samantha Fulton and it took me a little while to get with him, but we’re good now.”

WRWC Round 2 Pro Champion

Nicole Baggarly of Las Cruses, New Mexico, brought home $2,500 for her round-topping time of 2.28 seconds. Baggarly received a no-time in Round 1, so the payday made the trip to Cowtown a little sweeter.

WRWC Challenger Aggregate Leader: Kinlie Brennise and Rio

Kinlie Brennise is a college student, salon owner and handy breakaway roper. The 22-year-old living in Stephenville, Texas, stopped the clock in 2.67 seconds, adding to her 2.67-second time in Round 1, which earned her third in the round and $500.

Riding brother Kasen’s calf horse, “Rio,” who they purchased from Roping.com coach Justin Maass, Brennise’s Round 2 plan was to stay behind the barrier and make a run to what she did in Round 1.

“The calf I had was pretty similar to the one I had yesterday,” Brennise said. “I wanted to take my first throw, but I ended up taking one swing over him. Normally, I don’t take a swing over one, so I’m really happy I did today. I knew if I made a good run, I would be in the average.”

Brennise and Rio garnered more than $11,000 at the Three Star Memorial together in March, and she appreciates Kasen’s generosity for letting her borrow him for the summer.
