There are about 10 weeks left in the 2024 Resistol Rookie of the Year Breakaway race—with plenty of money left to be won including Cheyenne Frontier Days, Days of ’47 Rodeo in Salt Lake and beyond.

So, it’s time to check in on the breakaway rookie standings and see who is holding up in fire that is ProRodeo.

KC-Gail Churchill

Hailing from Waco, Texas, Churchill gathered up nearly $8K over Cowboy Christmas, catapulting herself to a sizable lead in the rookie standings with $20,266 won.

Recent earnings:

  • Oakley Independence Day Rodeo, Oakley, Utah – $6,377
  • Greeley Stampede, Greeley, Colorado – $1,533

When BRJ caught up with the rookie earlier this season, she was emphatic that full-time ProRodeo was going to be her career—and she’s putting an exclamation point on that statement.

Harley Meged

If the last name Meged rings a bell, it’s because Harley is the younger sister of 2019 PRCA Tie-Down World Champion Haven. But she’s not content to sit in her brothers shadow—Miss Meged went on a tear over Cowboy Christmas, gathering up $5,697. She’s been trending upwards on the Rookie standings, currently sitting No. 3 with $12,472 earned.

Recent earnings:

  • Greeley Stampede, Greeley, Colorado – $2,697
  • Black Hills Roundup, Belle Fourche, South Dakota – $2,612

Sierra Spratt

Spratt has been successfully balancing ProRodeo responsibilities and a full-time job at Teton Ridge as a television broadcast talent and producer. She recently hosted the first of three stops on Teton’s Rodeo Roadtrip, a College Gameday-style show that kicked off at the Calgary Stampede.

Spratt has also advanced to the quarterfinal performances at Cheyenne Frontier Days, and will rope again in Performance five on July 24.

Recent earnings:

  • Days of the Old West Rodeo, Delta, Utah – $1,186

Ariana Varischetti

Australian Varischetti is hauling with Spratt and 2023 Resistol Rookie of the Year Braylee Shepherd. Riding her horse “Reno,” from her home country, Varischetti has been putting in the work to adjust to America’s different scoring system.

Things are starting to click, too, with Varischetti and Reno advancing to the short round at Greeley, finishing in a tie for no. 3 in the average.

Recent earnings:

  • Greeley Stampede, Greeley, Colorado – $4,597
  • Mandan Rodeo Days, Mandan, North Dakota – $842
