American Rodeo Format

The top 15 contenders will compete in the Contender Tournament Finals on Friday, April 11, where the top five fastest times will advance to Saturday.

Come Saturday, these five contenders are eligible for a share of the $1 million purse, while the five invitees are gunning for a $100,000 prize.

Saturday begins with a round of 10, which will be whittled to a round of four. From there, The American Rodeo Champion will be determined with the fastest time.

How did contestants qualify for The American Rodeo?

There were two ways for breakaway ropers to get in on The American action:

  1. Be amongst the top five in the 2024 WPRA World Standings.
  2. Finish in the top five in one of the three regional contender tournaments.

These contender regional finals took place over the past two months in Las Vegas, Lexington, Kentucky and and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
