Whittman, Arizona Cowgirl Macy Young pocketed at total of $13,538 at the Pendleton Round-Up and Othello PRCA Rodeo on one of the last weeks of the ProRodeo regular season, a feat set to boost her inside the Top 15 with $98,761 earned.

In Pendleton, Young tied for second in the first round with a 2.7-second run for $3,525, and stopped the clock in 4.5 seconds in the final round for $1,594; and finishing fourth in the average with 7.2 seconds on two head to earn $5,891.

Her Northwestern efforts came at a critical time, as Young is sitting at No. 16 in the world with $85,178 as of Sept. 15.

“I left Salt Lake and took my sorrel horse home—I was mad,” Young said. “I hadn’t caught. I hadn’t been home since June 8, so my horses were all too fat to practice on. So, we came home and practiced for two days, and then I flew back up to Pendleton, and it was awesome.”

After sending her horses home from Salt Lake City, Utah, Young called on fellow breakaway roper Millie Greenwood for horsepower on the Green Mile.

Following the $11K payday in Pendleton, Young returned to business as usual. Despite being a stone’s throw from a trip to Las Vegas in December, Young and her family have a busy stretch ahead with Arizona’s winter team roping season, which means plenty to do before it kicks off.

With just a few weeks left in the regular ProRodeo season, Young plans to hit Amarillo, Texas, and Mandan, North Dakota, with hopes of getting into the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the last weekend of September.

No matter how the standings shake out, Young is certain of one thing: everything is going to work out.

“It’s all going to play out the way God wants it to,” Young said. “No need to stress about it. Whatever happens, happens. One thing about me is, whether I get a back number or not, I have a family to come home to and we’re all healthy, and that’s honestly the main thing.”

Breakaway bubble breakdown

The following analysis is unofficial and pending the WPRA standings update.

  • Macy Young is projected to take the biggest jump following Pendleton, moving from No. 16 to No. 13 with $13,538 won.
  • Suzanne Williams followed Young’s lead, moving up two spots from No. 13 to No. 11 with a projected total of $105,036 earned.
  • Erin Johnson lost one spot in the past week with Young’s rise, now sitting at No. 16 with $89,725 earned. She and No. 15 Jenna Dallyn are neck-in-neck, though, with less than $1,000 separating them.,
  • Bailey Bates jumped two spots to No. 18 with a $5,438 week bolstered by the Pendleton Round-Up.

Big-picture observations

  • The top four breakaway ropers in the world remain unmoved, with the order remaining Boisjoli-Meged, Munsell, Conner and Williams.
  • There’s little movement in the top 10 overall, with a few ladies—like Cheyanne McCartney and Maddy Deerman—trading spots.

Playoff Series only has Mandan left

The top eight in the playoff series tour points is too close to call, with Shelby Boisjoli-Meged and Suzanne Williams currently within 10 points of one another for the No. 8 position.

  • Rylee George
  • Zoie Bedke
  • Hali Williams
  • Martha Angelone
