California Rodeo Salinas paid out a pile of money to breakaway ropers, spanning from July 18–20 and featuring the classic California long score.

In the end, it was California native Rylee George who clinched the title, roping three head in 13.8 seconds and winning a total of $8,742.

Salinas sees breakaway ropers come out of the heading box instead of the heeling box, a notable changeup that can ruffle inexperienced ropers. The 2024 Champion Martha Angelone said her team roping experience came in handy when it came to setting up the run.
