After three years of hosting the Riata Stallion Incentive Breakaway—including 2024’s record-setting $250,000 payout—the program is entering a new chapter by partnering with Kimes Ranch to elevate opportunities for breakaway ropers and Riata-bred horses.

A New Home in the Kimes Million Dollar Breakaway

In 2024, the Kimes Million Dollar Breakaway made headlines as the richest breakaway roping in the world, earning national television coverage and accounting for nearly half of all breakaway earnings reported in AQHA’s QData system.

Now, Riata looks to contribute to that momentum, offering bonus money and additional qualifying spots for Riata horses throughout the Kimes Million Dollar Breakaway series.

Key Opportunities for Riata Ropers in 2025

1. Oklahoma’s Richest – October 2025

  • $10,000 bonus to the top-earning nominated Riata horse that doesn’t qualify through standard Kimes rules.
  • That roper will also earn a spot in the Kimes Semi-Finals.
  • If no Riata horse earns money outside of Kimes qualifiers, the bonus and Semi-Finals spot go to the highest-point earner from Riata side-pot entries.

2. Kimes Last Chance Qualifier – Scottsdale, Arizona, Nov. 26

  • $10,000 bonus to the highest-earning Riata-nominated horse entered in the Riata side pot at this event, including earnings from the Buy Back Round.

3. The Finals – Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway

  • $20,000 bonus to the highest-earning Riata horse, no side-pot entry required.
  • Horse must be declared at RiataBuckle.com before the event.
  • If no Riata horse places at the Finals, the bonus will go to Semi-Finals winners.
