There are two new names mixed into the Breakaway world standings this week as well as movement among the ranks and a new No. 2 roper, Shelby Boisjoli.
Breakaway ropers from across the country are racking up the miles on their rigs and in the skies as they hop from event to event, taking advantage of the lucrative Cowboy Christmas opportunities. Five of the ladies who have made the hustle and bustle work for them are Boisjoli, Sarah Angelone, Jackie Crawford, Taylor Munsell and Nicole Baggarley.
Major movement in the Top 15
The biggest earner from June 19–June 26 was Boisjoli, who raked in a total of $19,277. This moved her from No. 9 in the standings to No. 2, bumping 2022 World Champion Martha Angelone to No. 3.
Boisjoli was buoyed by her Reno Rodeo win of $12,035, but she won checks at the Bassano Rodeo and Wainwright Stampede in Alberta as well as at the 58th Belt PRCA Rodeo in Montana.
Hot on Boisjoli’s heels for earnings, though, was Sarah Angelone. Angelone earned $14,831 in the last week and climbed three places to No. 5. Angelone, who is usually a homebody, was persuaded by sister Martha to come out onto the rodeo trail with the agreement that if it went well she might continue going.
Starting June 17 in Mesquite, Texas, Angelone began consistently winning money. She earned $10,751 at the Reno Rodeo in Nevada, finishing No. 2 behind Boisjoli.
The next big mover is Jackie Crawford, who rose two places in the Top 15 standings to No. 8 with $6,319 earned. (Please note some of the rodeo money listed was included in previous weeks’ total tally due to slack and go-round timing). Crawford won Rodeo El Paso in Texas for $2,231 and cut a check at Big Spring Cowboy Reunion & Rodeo in Texas and at the Evergreen Rodeo in Colorado.
Her biggest success of the week came at the West of The Pecos Rodeo in Pecos, Texas, where she earned $4,754 throughout the go-rounds and aggregate, finishing No. 3.
This comes in spite of tough luck Crawford’s been facing, which included a missed time on her first calf in Reno. When she ran her new calf, things didn’t go her way.
New faces in the Top 15
Two new names on the Top 15 leaderboard are Taylor Munsell and Nicole Baggarley.
Munsell’s been chipping away on the rodeo trail, winning spots like the Pioneer Days Rodeo in Clovis New Mexico for $2,681 earlier in June and the Woodward Elks Rodeo in Oklahoma for $5,433. In the last week of June, Munsell rounded up $7,286 in Reno and broke into the Top 15.
Baggarley has been on the radar since the Parker County Sheriffs Posse Frontier Days And PRCA Rodeo in Weatherford, Texas, where she tied with Bradi Good for the aggregate championship, winning $4,780. Since then it’s been a smattering of $500-ish checks out West before a sweet payday at the Reno Rodeo and the West of The Pecos Rodeo—totaling $7,921.
