10/10. Deadwood, South Dakota 

Date: 5/30/21

Added money: $7,000

Fees: $231

Presented by the Black Hill Stock Show Foundation, “Back When They Bucked: An All Day Rodeo” took place this year on May 30th in Deadwood, South Dakota. The event consisted of a PRCA Extreme Bronc Match as well as WPRA breakaway roping all in the historical Days of 76 Arena. Mikayla McCoy took the win at Deadwood in the breakaway roping with a 2.7-second run.

10/10. Woodward, Oklahoma

The 91st Woodward Elks Rodeo happened on June 9-12, with four days of fun-filled rodeo action. The rodeo week kicked off with a longhorn cattle drive in downtown Woodward on the 8th and continued with four great PRCA rodeo performances. The name “Tuffest Of ‘Em All” rang true with Hope Thompson turning in a time of 2.5 seconds to win the breakaway roping.

Celebrating their 75th year with “Reride 75”, the Crooked River Roundup is set to take place June 24-26 this year. Labeled the Cowboy Capital of Oregon, there will be fun for the whole family! With three rodeo performances, 350 rodeo contestants and over $100,000 in prize money, this event in Prineville will be one to remember. In the breakaway roping alone, there is a $7,500 payout sure to bring the competition.

The World’s Oldest Rodeo celebrating 134 years is set to take place June 28-July 4 in Prescott, Arizona. With eight adrenaline-filled rodeo performances, Arizona’s second largest parade, live music and an annual rodeo dance, there’s something for everyone. Expect to see 64 of the top breakaway ropers competing for their share of $7,500 at this historic event. Named “Best of The West’s Best Historic Rodeo”, Prescott Frontier Days is a rodeo you don’t want to miss.

The Caldwell Night Rodeo is a five-day event for the whole family at the D&B Supply Arena in Caldwell, Idaho. Voted the “#1 Large Outdoor Family Event in Canyon County”, the Caldwell Night Rodeo is one of the largest and longest running events in the area. New in 2021, breakaway roping was added to the rodeo and is sure to be a fan favorite. Celebrating their 97th year, the event will take place August 17-21 in Caldwell, Idaho where the cowboys are the stars. 

6. Logan, Utah

The Cache County Fair and Rodeo is bringing three PRCA rodeo performances to Logan, Utah August 12-14. Celebrating 142 years at the fair, fans can expect to see mutton bustin’, Xtreme Broncs and of course breakaway roping all during this exciting event. With a payout of $8,000 for the breakaway ropers, the Cache County Fair and Rodeo will be a high-demand stop for many of the WPRA cowgirls this year.

Since 1883, the West of the Pecos Rodeo has been a fan and rodeo contestant favorite. Located in Pecos, Texas, expect to see four unforgettable nights of rodeos June 23-26 at the Buck Jackson Arena. Catch your favorite cowgirls competing for $10,000 in the breakaway roping in both slack and the PRCA rodeo performances. Inducted in the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2008 as well as the Texas Cowboy Rodeo Hall of Fame in 2018, the West of the Pecos Rodeo is an all-around great time for all involved.

The 86th Annual Oakley Independence Day Rodeo will take place this year July 1st through the 5th with four PRCA rodeo performances. You can catch some of the best breakaway ropers as they back in the box to compete for $10,000. Following the conclusion of each performance, there will be firework shows you don’t want to miss.

The Gooding Pro Rodeo is coming to town August 18-26 to celebrate 96 years of thrilling rodeos. New this year on the 18th is their “Beauty and the Beast” rodeo consisting of bulls, broncs and breakaway sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. With stock provided by Summit Pro Rodeo and an equal payout of $10,000 for all contestants, the Gooding Pro Rodeo will be a high demand stop for contestants and fans alike. 

2. Reno, Nevada

The Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West returns June 17-26 in Reno, Nevada to celebrate 102 years. With 10 nights of rodeo fun and over 140,000 fans in attendance, the Reno Rodeo plans to make 2021 the best year yet. The fourth-richest PRCA tour rodeo holds true to its name with $20,000 in added money for the breakaway ropers this year. 

1. Cheyenne, Wyoming

Cheyenne Frontier Days brings back its tournament-style rodeo for nine days of action-packed fun. The world’s largest outdoor rodeo and Western celebration is taking place July 24-August 1 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Fans can expect to see breakaway roping back for the second time at The Daddy of ‘Em where contestants are competing for a now equal payout of $67,000. BRJ
