Women in Rodeo Month
It’s Back: Women in Rodeo Month

Last September, the cross-brand team from The Team Roping Journal, The Breakaway Roping Journal and BarrelRacing.com rolled out the inaugural celebration of Women in Rodeo Month across our social media platforms and brand websites. The September prior, we brought BarrelRacing.com, BreakawayRoping.com and “The Breakaway Breakdown” podcast to the marketplace after a strong showing from The Breakaway Roping Journal, first published in September of 2020.

We’re not sure exactly how many years it takes for a habit to become tradition, but in the seemingly established tradition of elevating the level of coverage given to women in this industry each September, we are happy to announce Women in Rodeo Month 2023.

Look for amazing content featuring the industry’s great athletes of today, like barrel racing’s NFR talents, Carley Cervi and Jackie Ganter, breakaway standouts Rylea Fabrizio, Hope Thompson and Lari Dee Guy, team roping’s Kenna Francis, Whitney Desalvo and Katey Jo Gordon Anthony, and more. There will also be historical profiles on the icons who built the sport of rodeo to be what it is today. Women in Rodeo are at the top of their games, and we can’t wait to give them their due recognition over the next many weeks.

This year, our exceptional Women in Rodeo coverage will be proudly produced with sponsor support from R. Watson Boots, Mane ‘n Tail and Resistol. Thanks to them, we will deliver stories, interviews and action from rodeo’s glass-ceiling busting bests, and we will celebrate the long-lasting impact of the ones who’ve gone before, laying the groundwork for more and better opportunities in rodeo than ever before.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN THIS MONTH:
A by-the-numbers look at the economic impact women have on rodeo.

• Video highlight reels from the legendary Wildfire Ladies Only Championship

For daily inspiration from these legends, keep an eye on our social media channels and share it with someone—maybe an aspiring cowgirl.

Here’s to the Cowgirl,

Chelsea Shaffer
