In 2024, the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway paid out more than $1 million to breakaway ropers between their qualifying system and main event in Scottsdale, Arizona—and in 2025, it’s time for more breakaway ropers to qualify for the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway and get in on the action.

In 2024, the Oklahoma’s Richest paid out $150,509 to breakaway ropers looking to qualify for the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway Semifinals. Plus, the central location of the Lazy E Arena makes it an attainable trip for ropers from across the country.

In 2024 the qualifiers paid 15 places in all 3 round and 15 places in the 3 head average AND each go round paid over $6,000 and the average paid over $12,000!

4. Riata Sidepot

It pays to ride a Riata.

Important dates: October 17–19, 2025 and November 24–25, 2025

Semifinalists advancing: 2

There are two MDB Semifinal spots for Riata Buckle horses and their riders that will be awarded. One at the Oklahoma’s Richest, and one at the Last Chance Qualifier.

The Riata incentive will also be paying out $10,000 per event and a $20,000 bonus to the highest-earning Riata horse(s) in the Kimes Million Dollar Breakaway Finals. (If no Riata-eligible horse advances to the finals, the bonus will be awarded to the highest-earning horse(s) in the Semifinals).

Nominate your runs to the VRQ here.

The Virtual Rodeo Qualifier System has given ropers from across the country opportunities to rope at events such as WCRA Corpus Christi and the Women’s Rodeo Championship. Now, ropers can take advantage of nominating their rodeo and jackpot runs to the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway—allowing them to qualify for the Kimes Ranch Million Dollar Breakaway from anywhere.

Nominations close November 2, and following final tabulations, the top 20 will advance to the Semifinals.

2. Last Chance Qualifier

For those who perform well under pressure.

Location: Equidome, WestWorld, Scottsdale, Arizona

Important dates: Takes place November 24–25, 2025

  • Pre Entries Open September 15 – Pre Entries Close November 3
  • Online Late Entries November 4-21 with a $50 Late Fee
  • Onsite Late Entries Accepted with a $100 Late Fee

Semifinalists advancing: 40

In 2024, the Last Chance Qualifier paid out $81,201 to breakaway ropers. With a $500 entry fee there is a 70% payback, and the top 10 per round plus the top 10 in the average advance to the Semifinals.

This year ropers can enter the Last Chance Qualifier for a chance at money even if they’re already qualified for the semifinals, and better yet, it gives both horses and riders a chance to compete in the Equidome before the Semifinals.

1. LCQ Buy Back Round

For those who bet on themselves.

Location: Equidome, WestWorld, Scottsdale, Arizona

Important dates: Must enter the LCQ above to enter the buy-back round. Buy back round takes place Tuesday, November 25, 2025.

Semifinalists advancing: 5

The buy-back round is another shot at the Last Chance Qualifier glory, and five breakaway ropers will advance out of the round to the Semifinals.
