Seventy-seven thousand dollars. That is what the Cinch Playoff Series stop in Puyallup, Washington, dropped into the pockets of breakaway ropers between Thursday and Sunday, and almost none of it landed where it would have been quiet.
The money went to the bubble, to the fourth-ranked roper chasing a top-three finish, and to a former world champion who needed one big weekend to get back into the NFR conversation. Here is where it moved things.
Jill Tanner gets to the doorstep
The most consequential money of the weekend was not the biggest check. Jill Tanner came into Puyallup 19th in the world at $75,042.46 and left with $8,955—a long-round check and a third-place finish in the finals. Add the $1,240 she picked up at Lewiston the same week and her projected total is $85,237.46.
That puts her 16th and $1,586.18 behind Shelby Boisjoli-Meged for the last spot in.
The math is stark: without Puyallup, Tanner would be sitting at roughly $76,282 and 20th in the world. One weekend moved her four spots and turned a $10,500 deficit into one a single good check erases.
Above them, the ladder is short. Boisjoli-Meged is $738.74 behind Beau Peterson at 14th, and Peterson is $2,365.68 behind Jenna Dallyn at 13th. Below Tanner, Sawyer Gilbert (17th) is $636.55 back, Martha Angelone (18th) is $798.36 back of Gilbert, and Maddy Jacobs (19th) is $835.09 back of Angelone. From 13th to 19th, seven ropers are separated by under $7,000, and there are still payouts pending from Colfax, Salt Lake City, Hanna, Scottsdale and Davie. Any one of them could reorder the bubble.
Jackie Crawford’s $13,980 weekend
The biggest single check of the weekend was a split. Jackie Crawford and Josie Conner tied for the finals win and each walked away with $12,225 from the short round on top of $1,755 from the long rounds—$13,980 a piece.
For Crawford, that is the difference between 26th and 21st in the breakaway world standings after Puyallup. She came in at $62,051.53, roughly $24,800 out of the top 15 with two and a half weeks left. She leaves at $76,031.53, five spots higher and $519.68 behind Bradi Good at 20th. The gap to the line is now about $10,800, which is still a lot of ground to cover in the rodeos that remain. But she has gone from mathematically alive to actually alive.
Josie Conner puts Rylee George on notice
Conner’s half of that split does different work. She was already fourth in the world and was not going anywhere, but the top three had been pulling away. Before the weekend, Rylee George held third by about $14,700 over Conner. George roped well herself, adding $3,510 in the Puyallup long rounds plus $2,043 at Lewiston, but Conner’s $13,980 erased most of the gap. Projected, Conner trails George by $4,219.60 for third in the breakaway world standings after Puyallup.
Jordi Edens-Mitchell flips the 5-6 race
Jordi Edens-Mitchell did not make the finals, but her $6,142.50 from the long rounds was the third-largest long-round haul of the weekend, and with $1,600 in semifinal money her $7,742.50 was enough to pass Taylor Munsell for fifth. Munsell, who did not earn at Puyallup, came in $3,361.05 ahead. Edens-Mitchell now leads by $4,381.45. Neither is in any danger, but the order of the top six has shifted for the first time in a while.
Haiden Thompson holds ninth
Haiden Thompson’s $6,043.75—long-round money and a fourth-place finals check—did not change her spot. She is still ninth, $6,052.63 behind Cadee Williams at eighth and $4,172.21 ahead of Madison Outhier at 10th. She came in squeezed from both directions; she leaves with a little more room on the side that matters.
Everybody else
Kinlie Brennise ($4,387.50 in the long rounds plus $1,600 from the semis) moved up two spots to 28th, passing Taylor Engesser by $1,394.85. Kamie Jo Crouse’s $3,794 for third at Lewiston lifted her to 30th, and Erin Johnson fell two spots to 31st without roping. Jordan Jo Hollabaugh ($5,110 with her semifinal check) and Suzanne Williams ($3,510) held their spots at 22nd and 11th. Maddy Jacobs collected $1,600 for the semis and stayed 19th. Madison Outhier ($2,632.50), Cadee Williams ($2,193.75) and Bradi Good ($1,755) all cashed but did not move.
At the top, nothing changed and nothing was going to. Cheyanne McCartney added $1,240 at Lewiston to reach a projected $180,561.18. She sits $10,613.82 short of the regular-season record Munsell set last year at $191,175, with the remaining rodeos of the regular season to close it. Hali Williams won Lewiston with a 1.9 and $5,837 to stay a clear second.

What to watch in the breakaway world standings after Puyallup
The number is $1,586.18. That is what separates Boisjoli-Meged in 15th from Tanner in 16th, and it is less than a round win at most of what is left on the calendar. Boisjoli-Meged has to earn to hold her spot; Tanner has to earn to take it; and Gilbert, $636.55 behind Tanner, is close enough to pass them both. Colfax, Salt Lake City, Hanna, Scottsdale and Davie have all yet to post. Any one of them could decide it. BRJ will update the breakaway world standings after Puyallup as each payout lands.
