Twenty-four of WPRA’s best breakaway ropers are duking it out in Puyallup, Washington, September 10–13 for the Cinch Playoff Series Finale, where a share of the $77,000 breakaway purse and a ticket to the Governor’s Cup in Sioux Falls is on the line at one of the last stops of the 2026 season before the top 15 is set.
The field was built from the top 23 in the 2026 Playoff Series standings as of Aug. 24 plus the NFR Open event winner. The format includes two go-rounds back-to-back, a top-eight semifinals and a top-four finals, both happening Sunday afternoon. Every dollar won counts toward the 2026 world standings, which makes it crucial for cowgirls fighting the bubble in the fourth quarter of the season.

Puyallup Format
Puyallup will be two rounds, back-to-back, performance to performance. There will be two “sets” or “sections,” both comprised of 12 cowgirls. Following the long rounds will be a top eight Semifinals, followed by a top four Finals.
The top four ropers based on the average from each of the two sets will advance to the Semifinals on Sunday, Sept. 13. The top four teams from the Semifinals will advance to the Finals.

When is Puyallup?
The Puyallup Rodeo runs September 10–13, 2026, at the Puyallup Main Grandstand, 110 9th Avenue SW, Puyallup, Washington. Five performances are scheduled:
- Thursday, Sept. 10 — 6:30 p.m.
- Friday, Sept. 11 — 6:30 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 12 — 1:00 p.m.
- Saturday, Sept. 12 — 6:30 p.m.
- Sunday, Sept. 13 — 1:00 p.m. (Finals)
The semifinals and finals for all events run during the final performance Sunday afternoon.
How Does The PRCA Cinch Playoff Series Work?
Puyallup is a Cinch Playoff Series Finale, and 24 breakaway ropers were accepted into the event: the top 23 in the 2026 Playoff Series standings as of Aug. 24 who entered, plus the event winner of the NFR Open. Should the NFR Open winner already be qualified or not enter, the spot rolls to the next highest-ranked contestant off the standings.
The bigger prize is a spot at the Playoff Series Finale in Sioux Falls. Contestants who qualify for Puyallup must compete here to be eligible for the Sioux Falls Finale; ropers who didn’t qualify for Puyallup can still reach Sioux Falls if they satisfy the Finale qualifications based on the Playoff Series standings as of Sept. 21. All prize money earned at Puyallup counts toward the 2026 WPRA World Standings.
Whose Season Could Puyallup Make or Break?
Puyallup is one of the last chances to move real money before the top 15 locks in, and the storylines of the week are wicked from top to bottom.
Cheyanne McCartney, the Kingston, Oklahoma, cowgirl running away with No. 1, comes in projected just $12,004 back of Taylor Munsell’s 2025 regular-season earnings record of $191,175. A big week in Washington puts her in a real position to break that record and write her name in the history books.
Move down the standings and the tightest margins in the whole bubble aren’t next to each other—they’re two separate photo finishes. Bradi Good sits No. 20 at $74,797, just $246 behind Jill Tanner at No. 19. Two spots up, Maddy Jacobs trails Martha Angelone by only $332 for 17th. The Stephenville, Texas, cowgirl led all of breakaway in money last week and comes in as hot as anyone in the field.
Angelone herself is chasing—she’s $3,055 behind No. 16 Sawyer Gilbert who’s $2,062 back of Shelby Boisjoli-Meged at No. 15. And Beau Peterson sits No. 14 just $1,810 behind Jenna Dallyn—but the Nanton, Alberta, cowgirl isn’t entered at Puyallup, so she isn’t adding Puyallup money while Peterson gets a full weekend to close the gap almost unanswered.
There’s a rookie subplot too. Jaci Hammons, the Dublin, Texas, cowgirl leading the Resistol Rookie standings at $68,590.73, isn’t walking through the Puyallup gate. Amy Ohrt, of Victoria, Texas, sitting No. 2 in the rookie race, needs just $3,755.83 to catch her, and every dollar she banks this week is pure gain.
