The 2023 College National Finals Rodeo kicks off Sunday, June 11 with the “Bulls, Broncs & Breakaway” matinee. This week through June 17, the top collegiate rodeo athletes in the country will compete for a national title in their respective events. This is what you need to know about the 2023 CNFR.
Who
Approximately 400 of the nation’s top college rodeo athletes representing more than 100 institutions of higher learning from 11 regions will compete in nine rodeo events.
What
National championships for individuals and teams will be determined this week.

Wednesday, June 14: 7 p.m. 2nd Performance
Thursday, June 15: 7 p.m. 3rd Performance
Friday, June 16: 7 p.m. 4th Performance
Saturday, June 17: 7 p.m. Championship Finals
Scholarships will be awarded from the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association foundation and the NIRA Alumni. Special scholarships and awards will also be presented. Other activities of interest include a daily tradeshow, cowboy church, mounted shooting and more.

CNFR Events
Men compete in saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling and team roping. Women compete in barrel racing, breakaway roping, goat tying and team roping.
CNFR Format
Individuals compete three times with the top 12 advancing to the Championship Finals. That’s wherethe individual event, men’s and women’s all-around, and national team champions will be crowned.While scores and times are very important, the all-around and team titles are based on a pointsystem.
