Resistol Rookie Haiden Thompsonโ€™s 2025 ProRodeo season just kicked into high gearโ€”and sheโ€™s taking us along for the ride in this weekโ€™s episode of the The Breakdown Podcast.

The Wyoming cowgirl racked up an eye-popping $21,041 in earnings in just one week, with cash-ins at Estes Park, Sheridan, Casper, Gunnison and Cheyenne. That whirlwind run didnโ€™t just move her up the WPRA World standingsโ€”it launched her into the lead of the Resistol Rookie race.

Haiden Thompson on The Breakdown Podcast

In the episode, Thompson walks through her chaotic Colorado and Wyoming circuit, detailing nights with no sleep, cross-state drives that blurred into each other, and the horsesโ€”Foxy and Tomโ€”that carried her to the pay window.

โ€œI rode two different horses that week, and both were awesome,โ€ she said. โ€œTomโ€™s my longer-score horse, Foxy works better on the short setups. I was lucky to draw good calves and keep clicking.โ€

She also opens up about her goals for the yearโ€”including leading the Resistol Rookie standings and possibly cracking into the WPRA Top 15.

โ€œI didnโ€™t get into a lot of the big winter rodeos, so I didnโ€™t think the NFBR was even a shot,โ€ Thompson admits. โ€œNow people are saying I have a chance. Iโ€™m just trying to stay focused on one calf at a time.โ€

Listeners will also hear about her road partner, World Champion Martha Angelone, and the team dynamic thatโ€™s pushing both ropers forward in 2025.

Catch the full episode wherever you listen to podcastsโ€”you wonโ€™t want to miss Thompsonโ€™s honest, funny, and full-throttle take on rodeo life.

This episode is supported by Bye Bye Insects Spray from Spalding Labs

  • Spalding Labs has been controlling flies naturally for 46 years with Fly Predators. Our goal for our first Fly Spray was to create the best fly repellent, of any kind, for horses and people.
  • In the past, Essential Oils never kept up with synthetic Pyrethroid sprays in performance. With Bye Bye Insectsโ„ข weโ€™ve met that ambitious goal.
  • As you can see from the chart, Bye Bye Insects offers comparable, even superior, fly repellency compared to the most widely used fly sprays for horses. Note that Bye Bye Insects (Yellow) has comparable repellency to Farnamโ€™s Tri-Tech, Absorbineโ€™s UltraShield Red and Pyranhaโ€™s Spray & Wipe, three of the โ€œhigh endโ€ Pyrethroid based sprays.
