$86,434! Kylie Reininger’s Leaving The Patriot the 19-and-Under Breakaway Championship and a Whole Lot of Money

Kylie Reininger collected breakaway money everywhere from the jackpots to the 15-and-Under and 19-and-Under breakaway roping at the Hooey Jr. Patriot in Fort Worth, Texas.

Kylie Reininger and gelding “Tyson” were all over the Hooey Jr. Patriot map in Fort Worth, collecting a total of $86,434 in six different ropings, including the 19-and-Under Finals Championship.

“This is the most I’ve ever won,” The Reininger, 15, said. “I’m so excited.”

Reininger’s week started with a win in the 19-and-Under Last Chance Jackpot and continued with respectable finishes in both the 15-and-19-and-Under Semifinals.

On Saturday, she finished No. 3 in the 15-and-Under Finals for a $12,500 payday—but Reininger wasn’t done yet.

Rattler Rope added $15,000 to the Patriot Breakaway Ropings; $5,000 in each division.

Against ropers several years her senior, she put up a 2.08-second time that couldn’t be matched.

“I wanted to get out on the barrier and be fast,” Reininger said of her run. “It feels amazing to be roping with the 19-and-Unders and doing well.”

According to the Segiun cowgirl, part of her success on the week was due to Tyson being able to sleep in his “home” stall at their place in Dublin. She said she was able to score some on the gelding since he was breaking wide, but otherwise, you don’t mess with too much when it’s working.

Kylie Reininger’s Patriot paydays:

15U Jackpot with Last Chance Qualifier: $1,280
19U Jackpot with Last Chance Qualifier: $6,154
15U Breakaway Semifinals: $9,000
19U Breakaway Semifinals: $7,500
15U Breakaway Finals: $12,500
19U Breakaway Finals: $50,000

“Tyson is real special to me,” Reininger said. “He’s 10 years old and I’ve had him for 2 years. He’s my ride or die horse.”

Another one of Reininger’s secret weapons is her twin sister Kelsie, who found success at The Patriot, too, winning the Open Breakaway Jackpot with more than 90 entries. The duo encourage and push each other in their roping daily.
