2024 Breakaway Resistol Rookie of the Year Summer Williams on The Breakdown Podcast

Williams captured the 2024 Breakaway Resistol Rookie of the Year title with a total of $27,503 won. For her, the title was a dream that snuck up on her throughout the spring of 2024.

“I’d been at Cisco for a year, and in the summer I could either go home and work for my dad or go rodeo,” Summer explained on The Breakdown Podcast. “My boyfriend convinced me to go rodeo a little bit, and I really like goal setting, so he asked me what my goals were. I told him I wanted to make the Great Lakes Circuit Finals. But when I saw I had a chance at the Rookie, I decided to go for it. I had nothing to lose.”
