The 2025 American Rodeo is rolling into Arlington, Texas, April 11–12, 2025, and the five invitees hail from the 2024 Breakaway World Standings—ready to compete for $100,000.

There are few venues where a roper can earn six figures in just a handful of runs, and with their 2024 ProRodeo momentum behind them, these five American Rodeo breakaway invitees are ready to make their bid.

The reigning WPRA Breakaway World Champion Kelsie Domer finished 2024 with $168,578 in ProRodeo earnings and $95,000 in earnings from the Kimes Million Dollar Breakaway, where she earned the average championship.

Domer has competed at The American Rodeo since breakaway roping was added in 2019, and is looking to find success at an event where it’s previously been elusive.

Martha Angelone

The 2022 WPRA World Champion Martha Angelone finished the 2024 ProRodeo season sitting No. 2 with $165,505, and is always a threat to the fast time when she backs into the box. Angelone predominately rides two horses; Legend and Jesse James.

In 2024, Angelone earned $10,000 in the final four at The American while her sister Sarah secured the win.

Josie Conner had the best ProRodeo year of her career in 2024, finishing No. 3 in the World with $165,046. Her horse, Stylish Drifter, was named the 2024 Horse of the Year for his stunningly consistent performance throughout the summer and fall ProRodeo season.

Conner also secured the 2025 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo Championship, worth $28,000.

Shelby Meged

The 2023 WPRA World Champion Shelby (Boisjoli) Meged finished out the 2024 season on standout mare Sexy Lil Blue Blood, known as “Rootbeer.” Rootbeer has been standing in for Meged’s 2023 Horse of the Year “Onna,” registered as No Wimpy Turns. Onna is currently recovering from a check ligament strain and the BRJ team is eager to see who Meged brings to The American Rodeo.

Jackie Crawford

2022 and 2023 American Rodeo Champion Jackie Crawford is approaching the $1 million mark in WPRA earnings, set to become the first breakaway roper to reach that distinction. An industry mover and shaker, Crawford has advocated for breakaway on all stages alongside American Contender Lari Dee Guy, who’s among the 2025 American Contenders.

American Rodeo Breakaway Format

The top 15 contenders will compete in the Contender Tournament Finals on Friday, April 11, where the top five fastest times will advance to Saturday.

On Saturday the five $1 million eligible contenders will duke it out with the five invitees in a round of 10, which will be whittled to a round of four. From there, The American Rodeo Champion will be determined with the fastest time.
