Women’s Rodeo World Championship Challenger Debbie Fabrizio took home the breakaway roping win at Texas’ Amarillo All-Girl Roping event on March 20. The aggregate win—12.12 seconds on three calves—punched her ticket to the WRWC in Fort Worth, Texas. Along with the opportunity to compete for her share of $750,000 on May 16–18, Fabrizio pocketed $1,182 in Amarillo.

Fabrizio, who is seated in the No. 12 position in the Pro division of the heeling leaderboard with 599.5 points, has been roping since the age of 8 and has been a force to be reckoned with since her days in junior and high school rodeo … and she’s not the only one. The Fabrizio family is a familiar one, both in WRWC conversation and the greater rodeo industry.

NFBR qualifier Jordan Hollabaugh is Fabrizio’s eldest daughter, and she competed in the WRWC in both 2020 and 2021. In Amarillo, Hollabaugh entered the Open breakaway and placed second and third in the aggregate behind young gun Kendal Pierson. The effort awarded Hollabaugh hefty points towards the WRWC leaderboard, where she is currently seated in the No. 21 position with 1,260 points.

Then, the younger of Fabrizio’s daughters, Rylea, is currently seated in the No. 24 position in the Pro heading leaderboard with 599.5 points. Rylea, like her mother and sister, is no rookie to success in the WRWC in the team roping.

“Rylea and I made it to AT&T Stadium [in the Final Four Shootout] at the WRWC in 2020, and finished third in Las Vegas last year,” Mama Fabrizio explained.

As a lifelong roper, Fabrizio yearned for a finals that allowed cowgirls to compete for payouts like what the WRWC is awarding cowgirls and now, with the creation of the Challenger division, she gets two chances to win.

“I love to rope, whether it’s team roping or breakaway. To get to do both events at the WRWC, it’s just a cool feeling,” Fabrizio said. 

Fabrizio made sure to thank Kenna Squires for organizing the event in Amarillo and working with the WRWC to give the cowgirls great payouts and a great roping to attend. For Fabrizio, entering events like the Amarillo All-Girl is about more than just a love of the game. 

“I love going to the ropings because that’s where both of my girls will be. We get to hang out for a few days—it’s just fun. It’s what we’ve always done. My kids grew up doing it. It’s just what we do, and I love it,” Fabrizio said.
