Reflecting on My Blessings

Take it from me—count your blessings, and not just the big ones. All the little ones add up to something big. There is always somebody wishing they had what you do. – Jackie Crawford

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't grateful for this mare, too. Hail Mary has really stepped up this year and is my No. 1 pick for the NFBR.

As the holidays draw closer, I can’t help but reflect on everything I have to be grateful for in 2023.

It’s been an amazing year by every standard—I won $600,000 at The American Rodeo, qualified for the 2023 NFBR in the No. 10 position and won my 26th World Championship at the WPRA Finals. This year hasn’t been without trials, though, and now I value my inner circle more than ever.

The things I am most grateful for this year aren’t those big titles, it’s the people behind me that allow me to achieve those things.

The two people in my life that keep the wheels turning are Charly and Cheyenne Britain. Charly believes in me more than I believe in myself. He supports my career even though it’s hard for the family. And Cheyenne is literally my right hand. I could not do it without her. She’s the best friend, teammate and supporter someone could ask for.

Take it from me—count your blessings, and not just the big ones. All the little ones add up to something big. There is always somebody wishing they had what you do.

Life is one giant learning curve, and I am so grateful for people with grace around every corner. The people in your life that allow you to become the best version of yourself are the ones to treasure.

So as the holidays come, take a moment and realize what you have to be grateful for. Maybe it’s the people, horses or opportunities you have. No matter what, a gracious mindset will reap more plentiful rewards than a mindset of entitlement.
