The moment the entire breakaway community has been waiting for: the Top 15 breakaway ropers competing at the 2024 NFBR.
It’s been a grueling summer rife with competition that’s better than ever, leading the ProRodeo cowgirls to step up their game in ways they haven’t had to before.
“The girls that are out here every year know that we almost always beat previous years’ times by .1 or .2 of-a-second,” 2x NFBR Qualifier Hali Williams told BRJ in August. “So, our rodeos just continue to get faster every year and we have to account for that and continue to push ourselves to become better and faster.”
Who’s in for the 2024 NFBR?
The field is led by reigning World Champion Shelby Boisjoli-Meged, who overtook Josie Conner at the last minute with her Governor’s Cup victory in Sioux Falls, which paid her a total of $30,917.
From there, the top six are within $18K of one another—a testament to the closely-matched race that unfolded throughout the summer. (This is even more exciting when considering winning a Go-Round at the NFBR pays more than $5K.)
From Cowboy Christmas where No. 7 Maddy Deerman earned more than $10K, to the Northwestern run in mid-August where No. 12 Hali Williams won Gooding, ID, for $6,275, to the newly minted North Dakota Rough Rider Cup in Mandan, where Conner and No. 8 Danielle Lowman cleared $6K apiece, the race to end saw each roper jostling for position.
